Q: What tax credits and incentives are available for going solar?

The major incentive for going solar is the Federal Tax Credit. Under this credit, 26% of your project costs (including installation) go toward a credit to offset your tax burden when you file with the IRS.

Q: What is Net Metering?

Net metering is a solar incentive that allows you to store energy in the electric grid. When your solar panels produce more electricity than you need, that energy is sent to the grid in exchange for credits. Then, at night or other times when your solar panels are underproducing, you pull energy from the grid and use these credits to offset the costs of that energy.

Q: Will I have power during a blackout?

In the event of a blackout, the inverter in a grid-tie solar panel system will automatically shut down for safety reasons. thus, you will not have electricity until power is restored. If having power during a blackout is a major concern, our solar hybrid system can keep your powered on even when the grid is down.

Q: Should I re-roof my house before I install solar panels?

Our solar consultant will help you assess the need to re-roof before installing solar panels.

Q: How big of a roof do I need?

When you request a quote, Solergy will use our solar design tool to look at your roof and determine how many panels it can accommodate. If your roof is not ideal for solar, there are plenty of other system design we can use for your solar panels. Solar pergolas and solar carports are a great solution for homes that don’t have ideal roofs or homeowners that are worried about curb appeal.
